From Backnang to the Great Wall of China – Trainee Exchange in Beijing
The two stoba apprentices, Maxim and Patrick, recently had the opportunity to spend nearly three weeks in China as part of a student exchange program organized by the Max-Eyth Vocational School in Stuttgart.
During their stay in Beijing—in their second year of training as machining technicians—they gained insights into electrical engineering, cost accounting, and CNC milling at the CDAB (Sino-German Training Center). In addition, the two got to know Chinese culture, daily school life, and met many new people.
“It was particularly interesting to attend classes together with the Chinese students. Compared to Germany, for example, the school day began with group morning exercises in the schoolyard. We also got the impression that teachers and students maintain a very close and respectful relationship with one another. The Chinese students were always friendly, patient, and helpful,” say Patrick and Maxim, describing their classroom experiences in Beijing.
The two cite their visit to the Great Wall of China as a particular highlight. Experiencing one of the world’s most famous structures up close and sharing that moment together left a deep impression on them.
Looking back, Maxim and Patrick view the exchange as a valuable and unforgettable experience for which they are very grateful: “We can recommend to everyone that they take advantage of such an opportunity and seize the chance to get to know another culture up close.”
